Windmills

I’ve been trying to think of ways to distract my little grandson who is teething at the moment and came up with these colourful windmills. They make him smile when they whizz round in the breeze, but there’s still no sign of a tooth!

Some of the windmills were made from the heaviest Zeelon and the rest using Lutradur 100 and it only takes an A4 sheet per windmill. First, I made a pattern and cut out the basic shapes and then used transfer paints to add a variety of colours before assembling the windmills by simply using a nail and a thin piece of dowelling – they only took minutes to make.

Although the Zeelon produced more vibrant colours, the sails made from Lutradur did seem to hold their shape better. Its also good that these can be left outside even when it rains.
